Journal 27: Hints and Foreshadowing
In the story “ The Tell Tale Heart”, the
narrator who is also the main character keep telling us he did the right things
for the whole event and he is absolutely not an insane. However, when we see
more inside the story, you will realize that this narrator is not saying the
truth. He is totally an insane. But what conditions make us discovered that
this narrator was actually not telling the real things to the audience? Why is
he an unreliable narrator? First of all, I think the type of the story is quite
important because this is a kind of scary story and the narrator is the
character plus the murderer inside the story, this makes the audience
suspicious. Second of all, when we are going through the story, we saw that the
narrator’s behaviors became more and more weird; he killed the old man because
of his eye and sort of things, what kind of normal people will do this kind of
things? I think this is the biggest problem that deserves us to put in to the
consideration. All in all, I think some of the story make the narrator like
this is actually for the atmosphere in the story and make us feel scary! Sometimes
when a story is not telling the truth, it does not necessary means that’s not
good for the story.

ReplyDeleteYou are rights, no murderers would said it's their fault after they killed people. Also for the reason, it could only showed that he is an extreme person.

ReplyDeleteExactly! This is the most special thing inside the story, and it also make the story become more scary because you don't know which other side can you trust!
